The Avenue of Stars is in the rank among the most known sights in Hong Kong. One of the most beautiful views of the city open from here, and this is the place where the biggest laser show in the world the "Symphony of Lights" passes. More than 10 years the Avenue of Stars located in the district Kowloon attracts thousands of tourists, well and we couldn't overpass. The Avenue of Stars was created by the analogy with the Hollywood Walk of Fame to pay respects to professionals of the movie industry in China. The official opening took place on April 27, 2004, and already on the follow day anyone could see it with own eyes. The very best time for visit of the Avenue of Stars is evening. First of all, it is not already so hot, and, secondly, the multicolored illumination adds to this place special beauty.
The Avenue of Stars is a pedestrian area along the Victoria Harbour about 440 meters length. The city residents like to walk here in the evening to take a breathe sea air, and in the morning it is possible to meet many sportsmen here who make morning run. But there is, of course, the most of all tourists here who with cameras and supports make “the most beautiful photos of Hong Kong”.

The Hong Kong Avenue of Stars - what we can see, famous Hong Kong actors
For the non-Chinese speaking population the Hong Kong cinema is, first of all, represented by Jackie Chan and Bruce Lee. Few people will be able to tell still at least couple of names. And meanwhile, there are 101 memorial plaques (in the opening day of the Avenue of Stars there were only 73) here, but only 30 of them have hand prints of actors, after all the tribute was paid some of them posthumously.
Bruce Lee statue on Star Avenue Hong Kong
For modern young people the most famous Hong Kong actor is Jackie Chan, but for people is more elder and fans of Asian cinema Bruce Lee became the first Hong Kong actor. He was the actor, the director, the screen writer, the producer, the director of fighting scenes and even the philosopher. In spite of the fact that he was only 33 years old when he suddenly died, he left the very noticeable trace in world cinema.
If in Brazil near the Christ statue everybody is photographed, having expanded hands, near the Bruce Li monument everybody squares off.
It is necessary frequently to stand in a turn to make photo with Bruce Lee. Jackie Chan's star has considerable success in tourists too: one in two puts his palms to traces of "the great master". By the way, because of it the plaques regularly should be updated.
Hung Sin-Nui on Avenue of Stars
There are the prints of the actress Hung Sin-Nui who acted more than in 100 movies, but she is almost unknown at the Russian-speaking population. She began her career in 1947 and actively made movies before 1962. Then there was the film "The Legends of Lee Heung Kwan" in 1990 and the film "The Obstinate Princess and Her Honest Husband" filmed in 2009 where she was not only as the actress, but also as the director, the producer and the screen writer became her latest work. The actress died in December, 2013 at the age of 88 years.

Star Avenue other sights
Besides the memorial plaques on the Avenue of Stars all manners of sculptures to operators, screen writers and to other people without whom there would be no cinema are mounted. There is its "Oscar" here, the truth in its female embodiment, but it is even nice for us. By the way, this particular figurine (or, rather, its reduced original) is handed out to winners of the annual film festival Hong Kong Film Awards. The ceremony usually takes place in March or April and hands out awards for special achievements in the film art here.
Watching Symphony of Lights from HK Avenue of Stars
Every day at 8:00pm from “The Avenue of Stars” it can be observed the light show the “Symphony of Lights” which is brought in the Guinness World Records as the “World's Largest Permanent Light and Sound Show”. As the phrase goes from the guides, it combines a set of color laser beams and searchlights, and unforgettable all-round spectacle synchronized to music. Having read the guides, we waited for something absolutely tremendous, unusual and grandiose, but cannot possible to believe, that what we see there is the show therefore we continued to wait with the Chinese persistence. But it turned out that, the fact that we mistaken for a check of equipment before show there was the show noted by the Guinness World Records. No doubt that we are simply «spoiled» by show of this type, and it is difficult to surprise us because people who were around, remained pleased with the show. We have no photo of the show as in actual fact there is nothing to photograph there, but we have several great shots of the far bank (the district Central) with its incredible skyscrapers.
As we already wrote, the Avenue of Stars is the favourite place of tourists and locals therefore there is everything for comfortable pastime: cafe, restaurants and gift shops. Somebody catches fishes directly from the pier here, and someone goes for an outing through the Victoria Harbour by a ship.
Just a step away from the Avenue of Stars there is the "Hong Kong Golden Street" - the well-known Canton Road whereon the most expensive hotels and shops are located. Just at the spot it can be observed a block-long line in the boutique Chanel, and directly on the street to meet local Hong Kong celebrity.
Well simply passing by, it was succeeded to imprint the star of the Hong Kong TV screens - the actress Yinwei Chen (not to be confused with the Taiwanese baseball player of Wei-Yin Chen). Their names sound equally and even are written almost the same, but believe us, they are different people - we saw with own eyes both, they aren't similar at all! 🙂
Generally, it is necessary to tell that Canton Road is the sight of Hong Kong too, but about it we'll tell you in other article. By the way, if you have some free time, we recommend you to take a spectacular ride on Ngong Ping cable car and also visit Ocean Park to have a lot of fun.
