“You’re dead if you aim only for kids. Adults are only kids grown up, anyway.”
The outstanding Walt Disney considered that “adults are only kids grown up, anyway”. When you get to the Disneyland, you conceive that it was right more than ever. The children who grew up in the 80-90s years remember how waited in every weekend a next full-length animated cartoon or a film from the Disney Company which were for us exotic at that moment. Therefore many of us as a child wished to visit the fairy tale called the “Amusement Park Disneyland”, and we weren't the expulsion from millions of Russian children. But dreams exist to turn into reality them. When we once again appeared in Hong Kong, was decided to put into practice surely our long-held dream and to visit Hong Kong Disneyland. All the more so as almost in all guides the Disneyland is included into the five of the main Hong Kong sights. Therefore we will a little switch off from our summer travel across Europe and we will go to one of the Asian Disneyland. In the world there are only the 5 amusement parks of Disney: in Florida and California (USA), in Tokyo (Japan), Paris (France) and Hong Kong. Disneyland Hong Kong is the youngest; it opened most recently, in September, 2005.

How to get to Disneyland Hong Kong
By Hong Kong metro
Getting to Hong Kong Disneyland is easy. The park is located on Lantau Island. Both the easiest and convenient way to reach here is the metro (MTR). There is the specially built line called “Disneyland Resort Line”. A subway ticket price depends on a trip distance.
If you don't like subway trips, a taxi and a bus are at your service. Taxi service is HK is organized a bit complicated, here is three color cars, each color works for different area. On Lantau you can find only blue cars, which are "local" to this island. You still can get here from Hong Kong Island of Kowloon (where red-colored cabs are operating) but price will be higher than normal.
You can see bus routes, ticket prices and stops on the Hong Kong Disneyland website www.hongkongdisneyland.com. By the way, soon it will be possible to reach the park by sea.
We went to the park by subway and it is not just convenient, but also exciting: the special stylized trains cruising on the Disney's MTR line which create chime with mood.
The train arrives not to faceless subway station, but to the beautifully designed fantastic palace.

Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel
In spite of the fact that in Hong Kong there are a lot of interesting sights, many people come with children only for visiting Disneyland. Especially there are a lot of visitors from the surrounding countries - India, continental China, Philippines, Malaysia and etc. Specially for such tourists, two hotels near Hong Kong Disneyland were constructed: Disney’s Hollywood Hotel and Hong Kong Disneyland Resort.
Our Disneyland Hong Kong review
We made a visit the Disneyland in June, 2010 and at that point in time it consisted of 4 areas: Main Street U.S.A., Adventureland, FantasyLand and TomorrowLand. By 2013 the number of areas essentially increased, and there were three more: Toy Story Land, Grizzly Gulch (Wild West Fun) and Mystic Point.
The visiting of the Disneyland always begins with the Main Street - there are gift shops of all sorts just at that where you can buy the famous ears of Mickey Mouse. If you visit the park with children, here goes nothing to leave it without buying. Even we, two adults, couldn't overpass. 🙂 Except the gift shops the academy of animation works here too, the parade of heroes cartoons and the famous fireworks against Disney's castles pass. There is the railway station with the train by which you can reach the other end of the park if you were laziness to walk.
After all money was spent in the gift shops of the Main Street, we went to the first theme area Adventureland. The star turn of this area is the Jungle Cruise. But to get on the ship with the English-speaking guide, we have to stand in the turn about 15 minutes. There are special tickets the Fastpass, but on this attraction they don't operate. It needs to say that the guide didn't tell to us anything new and interesting therefore you can easily choose that turn where there are fewer people and not to pay attention to language. 🙂
All attractions in the park are thought very over, all minute particulars took into account to create the chime with mood.
At last our turn approached, and we go to the “cruise”.
Some ships not just sail down the river, but also stop over on the Tarzan's Island. There children can climbs on the tree - Tarzan's Treehouse, go for a walk on the rope bridge, you can see how this hero lives, and maybe even to meet with him if you will be lucky!
But we passed by, and our small boat goes towards to some adventures. We met many different animals, were fired by natives, and our ship was as near as burned down at the shank of the journey, but everything turn out all right.
Besides the Jungle Cruise down the river and visits of the Tarzan Island, it is possible in the Adventureland to get on the show under the Festival of the Lion King, to participate in street performances the Jungle Street Entertainment or to visit the platform of “Liki Tikis” with water games. And we go to the following area of the park - the Fantasyland.
It is one of the biggest and saturated areas of the park, but for the most part there are attractions for small children here. Here it is possible to do some flying together with the elephant Dumbo, have a ride on the merry-go-round, to go at Winnie-the-Pooh or at the theater. Adults can be a little dullish in this area.
In this area we visited the Mickey's PhilharMagic 5D-cinema, and then made a journey round the world on the attraction “It's a small world”.
Also various shows and street performances pass in the Fantasyland, and we go to the last area of the park - the Tomorrowland.
If the Fantasyland is suited for kids, this area is alternatively for teenagers and adults. On some attractions kids are refused entry - it is necessary to pass the restriction on the minimum growth, for example, on the Space Mountain. This entertainment is very similar to the roller coaster, but in full darkness therefore you never know what you are expected in the next second. And here it is possible to drive racing machines and to do some shooting from blasters in UFO.
We can tell nothing about the new areas of the Disneyland which appeared after our visit. But as judged by presentations on the site, it is worth to visit them. Personally we will return to the Hong Kong Disneyland at least once more to show the fairy tale to our son Max, well and to look as everything changed.
In the evening on the main street the well-known fireworks against the Cinderella's castle passes which surely should be seen with own eyes. Here there is the set of restaurants and café at which it is possible to have a bite tasty.
We put out of mind to tell that if you are laziness to go on the park on foot, you can use free of charge buses or train and if you need a baby stroller or a wheelchair, it can be taken on hire at the Fire Station which settles down on the Main Street. In the park everything is made for convenience of its grownup and small visitors.
As part of preparation for our trip at tourist forums we often met a question: “What to choose - the Disneyland or the Ocean Park?” and here, unfortunately, there is no the universal answer. We visited both the amusement parks and we can't draw the unique conclusion. Everyone has to solve for himself, but it is better not to ask this question, and to visit the one and the other.
If you never were in the Disneyland, it is worth visiting there, certainly, at least to see all your own eyes, to feel this magic fantastic atmosphere. If you travel with your kids (under 10-12 years of age), the Disneyland, perhaps, will be more actual. But if some of the Disneyland was already visited earlier, it is worth to choose the Ocean Park. It is quite another, has its own features, there are more attractions and less fairy tale here, but it is the wonderful place for fine rest by all family.
This post must be appeared in our site almost four years ago, but we publish it just now not for nothing. After all in the last winter month when many people fall into winter melancholy and depression, all of us want the fairy tale and magic. On and on put faith in miracles, you know they nigh hand at hand - it is rather simple to buy an air passage to begin new travel!
